Virtual (Online) Yarn Shows 2020

Hello!  How are you doing?  I hope you're OK. We're now at the midway point of 2020, and it's been quite the year already.

With the cancellation of in-person shows and events for the foreseeable future, my annual list of yarn shows in the UK for 2020 was looking rather sad.  More and more events are being cancelled as organisers and venues realise that restrictions won't be sufficiently lifted for in-person shows to go ahead. 

However there are a number of events that are still happening online, in ways that we would never have imagined a few months ago.

If you're not sure what an online yarn show looks like, a general model is that the show vendors each make a video or a live stream of their products, and these are all streamed online on the day of the event.  You can find all the action either by following the show's Instagram feed, hashtags, or perhaps through a Facebook group. 

It might sound a bit strange, but it's actually loads of fun!  I did my first ever Instagram Live a couple of weeks ago as part of the virtual Yorkshire Yarn Fest, and I had a brilliant time.  I got to see lots of other vendors with their products in their homes and studios, and got to meet new customers from around the world, all from the comfort of my little yarn room.  I definitely hope to do more!

So to help you find out what events are happening online for the second half of the year, I've put together this little guide to virtual yarn shows.  I'll be keeping it regularly updated as new events are scheduled over the coming months.
