2010: the year of the knitting festival

I’m not sure what prompted it exactly, or maybe the UK hand-knitting community has just reached a certain strength, or perhaps we’ve glanced across the pond and been a bit envious of all the events in the US (ahem, Sock Summit).  Whatever the reasons, the UK seems to have a phenomenally full calendar of knitting events lined up for 2010.

It may only be early January, but here’s a rundown so you can start planning your knitting calendar for the year ahead.

24-25 April            Wonderwool Wales,  Builth Wells, Wales

25-26 June            Woolfest, Cockermouth, Cumbria

29-31 July             Knit Nation, Imperial College, London

9-14 August          UK Knit Camp and Ravelry Day, Stirling, Scotland

10-11 Sept            I Knit Weekender, London (no further details available yet)

7-10 October         Knitting and Stitching Show, Alexandra Palace, London   (plus dates in Dublin and Harrogate)

Phew! And these are just the ones that I know about.

I’ve already snaffled my tickets to Knit Nation and the UK Knit Camp – I’m using this as a great opportunity to do some travel around Scotland (and I’m booked on to a workshop with the awesome Norah Gaughan Yay!).  I think some serious prioritising will be needed this year – I’d love to hear about what events you’re planning on going to.
